About Us

Mother Africa Foundation was established in late 2016 and is dedicated
to establishing and supporting initiatives to promote:

As reflected in “Our Projects”, as an initial focus Mother Africa will direct
profits from the sale of Babes’ Blessing wine and Dad Bags
to support the incredible work of Dr Andrew Browning and Maternity Africa,
providing safe births and healing fistula.

With immense compassion, love, experience and technical medical skills, Dr Browning
and his colleagues respect the dignity of each of the women and
girls they treat at Maternity Africa’s hospitals in Tanzania and Ethiopia.

Dr Browning also regularly travels to South Sudan and Uganda to provide maternal health
services.  Maternity Africa is currently building a new 44 bed hospital in Arusha, Tanzania.

Dr Browning trained under the legendary Dr Catherine Hamlin who,
with her late husband, Reg, pioneered the treatment and healing of fistula.

Dr Catherine has twice been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, most
recently in 2015.  At 93 years of age, Dr Catherine still operates 1 day per week.
Dr Browning is also the nephew of Valerie Browning who, since 1973, has
lived with the nomadic Afar people in Ethiopia, providing her midwifery skills.

Arrangements are currently being made for Mother Africa Foundation Australia
to be registered with Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission and
to operate under the auspices of the Kyeema Foundation, with Deductible
Gift Recipient (DGR) status for donations.

Mother Africa’s founders and directors, Ilenna Copley, Dr Dorian von Freyhold
and Elizabeth Osborne, recognise the importance of social enterprises
to provide sustainable funding for Mother Africa’s projects.

IMPORTANT NOTE: 100% of profits from Babes’ Blessing and
Dad Bags are forwarded to Maternity Africa.

No salaries are deducted, to optimise the beneficial impact of our social enterprises.

Babes’ Blessing wine range has been created in collaboration with a multi-award
winning Australian winery, based in the Barossa, South Australia
- Australia’s winemaking heartland for exceptional wines.
